INSPIRATION YVES SAINT LAURENT 1975... DSquared AD SS//2011

Helmut Newton's iconic picture of Yves Saint Laurent's "Le Smoking", shot in 1975 and featuring the top model Vibeke Knudsen [left] is a fashion's classic and has inspired other designers in many ways, as we can notice here in DSquared's SS//2011 AD photographed by Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott  [right].

Created in 1966, the Le Smoking tuxedo suit for women was the first of its kind to earn attention in the fashion world and in popular culture. It pioneered long, minimalist, androgynous styles for women, as well as the use of power suits and the pantsuit in modern-day society.

INTO THE SAME IDEA... Balmain and Isabel Marant SS//2011

These two collections seam to be very similar, Balmain SS//2011 [all lefts] and Isabel Marant SS//2011 [all rights]. It becomes even more clear when seen on the same models: Sasha Pivovarova [all aboves] and Anabela Belikova [all belows].
The reason that the collections appear similar can be found in the collaboration of both fashion houses with the same stylist: Emmanuelle Alt.
Some rumors are saying that from next season on she will no longer work as a styling consultant for both brands, due to her new position as editor in chief at Vogue France... This could be a great opportunity for Balmain and Isabel Marant to get straight their identity
