A wonderful cape from the FW 2006//7 collection of Balenciaga [left], that has been inspired by an even more beautiful original design of Cristòbal Balenciaga from 1963. This cape, than again, has been also an inspiration to Moschino's latest collection for FW 2012//13 [right].

Not only Mango has got inspired by the FW2012//13 Isabel Marant collection and this look [left], they have also decided to advertise it choosing the same model that was wearing it in the show [ right, Anna Selezneva]. And another thing... the Mango version has made it quicker into the stores than its original... Is this the sad future of RTW?

I really do like the designs Guillaume Henry usually creates for the French fashion label Carven. But what's the necessity to do an 'interpretation"/ knock-off of the classic and extremely recognizable Missoni chevron pattern [left] that has been used in the SS//2012 collection of Carven [right]?! ...In this case I'd like to quote Madonna: 'Italians do it better".

The movie 'North by Northwest" directed by Alfred Hitchcock in 1959, starring a wonderful Cary Grant [left]... has been a strong inspiration for a Helmut Newton photoshoot for Vogue UK featuring model Willy Van Rooy [right].

A long time before blogging was invented, German photographer F.C. Gundlach created this photo shoot on the street with model Judy Dent in 1962 [left]... and one of the typical pictures taken by street-fashion-blogger legend Scott Schuman, better known as 'The Sartorialist ", of a girl with a bicycle [right].
With this post I recommend the books:
