INSPIRATION Kazuo Ohno... Givenchy Haute Couture SS//2011

Riccardo Tisci got inspired for his latest Haute Couture collection [right] by Japanese icon Kazuo Ohno [left]. Kazuo Ohno [1906-2010] was a Japanese dancer who became a guru and inspirational figure in the dance form known as Butoh.

INSPIRATION YSL AD 1979... Yves Saint Laurent AD SS//2011

The 1979 Yves Saint Laurent advertise [left] was photographed by the German Claus Ohm. For the next Yves Saint Laurent ad campaign [right] Arizona Muse has been chosen as their new face, replacing Daria Werbowy. The photographs are taken by Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin, while the styling has been edited by Stefano Pilati, who has chosen as location the gardens of Bled Roknine, a Thirties style villa in Marrakech.

INSPIRATION 'Last year at Marienbad' 1961... CHANEL SS//2011

The avant-garde movie from the early 60ties directed by Alain Resnais starring the wonderful Delphinie Seyrig [left] was the inspiration for Chanel's SS//2011 collection [right], with an incredible ornamental garden catwalk created like usual by Stéphane Lubrina.

INSPIRATION Julian Schnabel... DOLCE&GABBANA SS//2008

Another collection that was inspired by art, was the one for SS//2008 of Dolce&Gabbana. The Italian designer duo visited once the atelier of Julian Schnabel in New York and below we see the result. This dress might have been inspired directly by a painting Julian Schnabel dedicated to his (then) wife Olatz Lopez.

INSPIRATION Richard Prince... LOUIS VUITTON SS//2008

The Spring/ Summer 2008 collections are remembered for have been strongly inspired by art.
We all are aware of Louis Vuitton's collaboration with contemporary artist, who are called to embellish their famous monogram bags. In SS 2008 it was the turn of Richard Prince, who's 'Nurse Painting' series inspired the complete theme of the show.
