The sixties faux-fur fashion interpreted by top models Veruschka and Ann Turkel and photographed by Irving Penn for the September issue of Vogue US 1967 [left]... might have been an inspiration for the flower motived fur coats for Miuccia Prada's SS||2013 collection [right].

INSPIRATION 'Qui Etes-Vous, Polly Magoo?" 1966... Marc Jacobs SS||2013
And here comes another season that carries as a major inspiration the wonderful 60ties. This time, a great section of the applied visuals for many designers are bold stripes, like seen in the William Klein satire movie from 1966 'Qui Etes-Vous, Polly Magoo?" [above]. This film, features among others Peggy Moffit, Richard Avedon and Jeanloup Sieff, and might have been amid the mood board pictures for Marc Jacobs' SS||2013 collection [below].

INSPIRATION Giorgio Armani SS||2013... Louis Vuitton SS||2013
Marc Jacobs recently said that he feels flattered every time some other designers or fast fashion chains copy his designs. Well, his recent Louis Vuitton show for SS||2013 [right] might have been an attempt to flatter Giorgio Armani and his longtime trademark of showing his designs on paired models [left].

INTO THE ARCHIVES... Balmain FW//2012||13 and Balmain SS||2013
Many may notice that trends do not change drastically from one season to another, but very often they have different stages, like: to appear, to explode and to fade within three sequential seasons. This can happen also within the same designer label or brand. In this post you see how at times similar inspirations and styles are elaborated further and evolve through different seasons even by the same designer and creative director. Sometimes just one collection [Balmain FW 2012||13 left] is not enough to analyze and visualize a certain idea and concept, but it will be developed further also in the next collection [Balmain SS||2013 right] .

INSPIRATION Raf Simons for Jil Sander SS||2011... Raf Simons for Christian Dior SS||2013
I love Raf Simons as a designer, and I really loved his work over the past years for Jil Sander [all lefts]. He was just the perfect fit for the modern and sleek style of the minimalistic label and was able to make it always exciting. A different design approach could have been expected when taking on a maison like Christian Dior and its extraordinary heritage. I agree that Dior needed a restyling and some kind of refreshment, but I imagined the new Christian Dior design for SS||2013 [all rights] to be far more different from what Raf has done previously at Jil Sander.

INSPIRATION Saint Laurent Rive Gauche 1966... Saint Laurent Paris 2012
There was a passionate discussion within the fashion world, whether it was right or not to have taken out the Yves from the 'Yves Saint Laurent" logo by the new creative director Hedi Slimane, by launching the new logo: Saint Laurent Paris [right]. But actually when Yves Saint Laurent and Pierre Bergé opened the first Saint Laurent Rive Gauche store in September 1966 in Paris there was no Yves in the logo either [left].
INSPIRATION Stella McCartney FW 2011||12... Akris SS||2013
The partially-see-through dresses of Stella McCartey's wonderful collection for FW 2011||12 [left] inspired by a collection of Geoffrey Beene [see here]... might have been an inspiration for this outfit for SS||2013 [right].

INSPIRATION Elsa Schiaparelli 'Shocking"... Jean Paul Gaultier 'Classique"
Elsa Schaparelli's oriental floral scented fragrance 'Shocking" was created by Jean Charles in 1937 with a sensual packaging inspired by the body of Mae West [left]… and might have been an inspiration for the packaging of Jean Paul Gaultier's perfume 'Classique" [right].
