The Christopher Kane collection was a smart little parade of compact black dresses with multicolored lava lamp liquidity trims... Kitsch made sophisticated.

INSPIRATION RUDI GERNREICH 1972... Antonio Berardi FW 2011//12
Beautifully modern black and white optical divisions through cuts and seams by Rudi Gernreich in 1972 [left] and Antonio Berardi for FW 2011//12 [right].
Gernreich [1922-1985] moved into fashion design via fabric design, and then worked closely with model Peggy Moffitt and photographer William Claxton, pushing the boundaries of "the futuristic look" in clothing over three decades.
Gernreich is perhaps most noted for his design of the first topless swimsuit, or monokini, as well as the pubikini. He was a strong advocate of unisex clothing, dressing male and female models in identical clothing and shaving their heads and bodies completely bald. He was known as the first designer to use vinyl and plastic in clothes, and he designed the Moonbase Alpha uniforms on the television series Space: 1999.
With this post I recommend the book:

INSPIRATION GEOFFREY BEENE 1967... Marc Jacobs SS//2008
Wonderful evening gowns inspired by American football jerseys, designed in 1967 by Geoffrey Beene [left], and a newer version of this theme by Marc Jacobs for SS//2008 [right]. Beene introduced the idea of sportswear for evening, utilizing both jersey and denim in his designs. The year before he scored with his 1967 sequined football jersey gown he also brought onto the field evening dresses with grey flannel and wool jersey.
