Wonderful evening gowns inspired by American football jerseys, designed in 1967 by Geoffrey Beene [left], and a newer version of this theme by Marc Jacobs for SS//2008 [right]. Beene introduced the idea of sportswear for evening, utilizing both jersey and denim in his designs. The year before he scored with his 1967 sequined football jersey gown he also brought onto the field evening dresses with grey flannel and wool jersey.
