With the fashion world evolving in an always quicker rhythm of collections and so many things already created in fashion and costume history it seems to become always more difficult to avoid citations of previously appeared styles and designs. In this case Prada did it first. In her FW 2009||10 collection she has created leather fringed dresses with beautiful embellishments of studs and embroidery [left]. A similar solution in style and craftsmanship has been presented yesterday by Riccardo Tisci for Givenchy's SS||2015 [right].

INTO THE ARCHIVES… Salvatore Ferragamo 1938 and Salvatore Ferragamo SS||2015
One of the most iconic shoes have made the return to the present time. Salvatore Ferragamo's creative director Massimiliano Giornetti choses to revive in a contemporary sleek manner the famous Rainbow sandal [left]. The ankle strap sandal has been originally designed in 1938 for Ferragamo's celebrity client Judy Garland, who btw performed the song Over the Rainbow in the movie 'The Wizard of Oz" a year later. Now the legendary cork platform in layers of colors has been transformed in an understated nude leather version for SS||2015 [right].

INSPIRATION Joe Colombo TUBE chair 1969… MARNI SS||2015
The TUBE chair is an Italian design icon from the late sixties, created by the legendary Joe Colombo [left] and might have been an inspiration and part of the creative mood boards of the Marni team while creating this cute little heel for their SS||2015 footwear [right].
Italian architect and designer Joe Colombo responded to the changing social conditions of the 1960s by radically reinventing furniture forms and creating innovative interior environments, reflecting swiftly evolving modes of living. The modular components of his TUBE chair can be arranged in any combination to suit the user, and can even be nested together, one inside the other. The foam-covered PVC tubes can be used in any number and combination, accommodating one or more people.

INTO THE SAME IDEA… The Row and Marni SS||2015
A trend that keeps emerging on the SS||2015 catwalks is the breathtakingly beautiful Monastic Aesthetic one. The most engaging versions has been seen so far during NYFW at the Olsen sister's catwalk of The Row [left] and this morning in Milan at Marni [right]. Graceful lines and a sense of purity in materials with a raw feeling of white and cream hues are equally a must as the Jesus sandals styling.

INTO THE ARCHIVES Gianni Versace SS||1994… Versus SS||2015
This is the dress that got Liz Hurley somewhat famous, even if the continues to be more known for that than for her acting career. In 1994 she accompanied her then boyfriend Hugh Grant to the premier of 'Four Weddings and a Funeral" launch creating a certain hysteria by wearing this extremely sexy outfit. The black Gianni Versace gown was made of very little fabric and many golden oversized gold safety pins placed at strategic places, that literally held the gown together [left]. Anthony Vaccarello draws inspiration from this dress when creating the Versus Versace collection for SS||2015 [right]. The young Italian designer is the newest creative collaboration between Donatella and new fashion talents for the Versus brand, which previously has collaborated with designers like Christopher Kane and J.W.Anderson.

INSPIRATION Adidas Stan Smith… Alexander Wang SS||2015
Alexander Wang's SS||2015 collection was an homage to trainers and included a fantastic little tennis dress [right] inspired by the colors and surfaces of the legendary Adidas Stan Smiths [left]. Everybody in the fashion world has been obsessed lately with the Stan Smith, even more the versions created with Shigeki Fujishiro and Raf Simons.
In 1963 the first Adidas tennis shoe was produced, which was the first ever leather tennis shoe and marked the beginning of a long line of classic Adidas shoes. In 1965, this tennis shoe model was named the 'Adidas Robert Haillet" after the French tennis professional Robert Haillet. When Haillet retired from tennis, Adidas and Horst Dassler decided to find another tennis player that could endorse the tennis shoe model. In 1971, the model was renamed the 'Adidas Stan Smith", after the acclaimed tennis champion Stan Smith, who was ranked World No.1 at the time.

THANK YOU ZARA!… Marc Jacobs FW 2014||15 and Zara FW 2014||15
As I reported in my last post, knitwear total looks are a huge thing for the coming winter season. Another designer who has shown us an amazing version of this trend is Marc Jacobs [left], with a deep-V neckline tunic out of ultra-fine filament knits that is worn layered over fluid pant-leggings. Similar, or let's just say the same, loungewear hybrids of tunic-and-legging combos are now available in different color variations at the fast fashion label Zara for under 80 Euro [left]. Thank you Zara!
