INSPIRATION Mata Hari 1910... Greta Garbo 1931

Margaretha Geertruida Zelle, better known under her stage name Mata Hari [left], was a Dutch exotic dancer and courtesan who had been accused to be a spy for Germany during World War I and therefore executed by a firing squad. Greta Garbo [right] interpreted her in 1931 in the movie 'Mata Hari", wearing wonderful clothes and jewelry created by Adrian, her friend and in-house costume designer at Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer.
