INSPIRATION 'Rythme Coloré" by Sonia Delaunay 1946… Junya Watanabe SS||2015

Junya Watanabe's 'patchwork madness" collection for SS||2015, presented a few days ago during PFW [right], was a playful homage to the Orphism art movement. In particular there were some similarities to the 'Rythme Coloré" painting of Sonia Delaunay from 1946 [left]. Sonia Delaunay was primarily known as an abstract painter and colorist, yet she also greatly contributed to fashion, interior design, film, theater and textiles. Together with her artist husband Robert Delaunay she started the Orphism, or also called Orphic-Cubism, art movement.
