The American-Palestinian model Gigi Hadid, wearing an A.L.C. Covington sweater [right], has been chosen to recreate the famous Vogue US cover from 1988, photographed by Peter Lindbergh [left]. This particular Vogue picture, featuring Israeli model Michaela Bercu wearing a Christian Lacroix jacket, is famous in the fashion world because it was the first cover under editor-in-chief Anna Wintour and it was the first time a pair of jeans made it on a Vogue cover. The Lacroix jacket was actually part of a suit, but the skirt didn’t fit Michaela: she had been on vacation back home in Israel and had gained a little weight.
